Description:4to, [12]- 219 pp. Woodcut printer's device (Plantin) on title page. With 2 large copper engravings very likely executed by Goltzius himself: an oval portrait of H. Goltzius, after a painting y Antonio Moro, on p. 201 ; a printer's mark of Goltzius, representing 'Hubertas' pouring coins, on p. 219. With an autograph dedication of the author on title page. Some waterstains in the lower corner, marginal wormholes at the end. Contemp. calf binding, with a gilt ornament on both boards, heavily rubbed, spine renewed, all edges gilt
Note:First edition. It is a pioneer survey of classical inscriptions on coins, medals and monuments, some lost by now.
