Note:A well-known work of the Renaissance on political economy, it deals with government administration, moral and civil law, economy, city planning and commerce, as well as culture (art, music, theatre, literature, libraries), science, medicine, and the military. Patrizi recommends protection for merchants and tradesmen who contribute to the enriching of a country, and he considered that the state should provide the means of subsistence to the population. Patrizi his writings had great influence on the ideas of civic Humanism, and he is considered a predecessor of Machiavelli.
