Poet at the court of Emperor Honorius, much of Claudianus' poetry celebrates Honorius, his deeds, ministers and marriage. Claudianus is renowned for his Rape of Proserpine, a retelling of the mythological story of the abduction of Proserpine (Persephon?) by Pluto.
