Bound in half vellum, blue marbled boards, title in ink on lower edge

Alessandria was founded in 1168by the Italian communities confederated against emperor Frederick I, surnamed Barbarossa, and took its name from pope Alexander III; its first walls built of mud and straw gave the name of Alessandria della Paglia.
