Description:on a large vellum leaf of an antiphoner (573 x 382 mm), 10 lines each of text in a gothic liturgical hand and of music in "nagel-schrift" neums on a 5-line red stave, rubrics in red, capitals touched in red, eight initials in red or blue or in calligraphic designs (one including a face peering out of a hood), the historiated initial c. 140 x 98 mm in blue with leafy tracery in white and with the miniature in colour on a burnished and tooled gold ground within a frame of green and red heightened with yellow, all supporting a broad border of twisting coloured flowers and acanthus leaves (one leaf including a face) and gold bezants and a peacock, a few later additions to the text, slight wear only, ownership stamp of R. Forrer [of Strassburg], from the Rosenbaum Collection
Note:A fine leaf with the antiphon "Vespere autem sabbati ..." for Easter Saturday. The miniature shows the three women with jars of ointments (the third Mary is almost hidden by the haloes of her companions) standing by the empty Tomb as an angel tells them that Christ has risen
