In-folio (33,3 x 21,5), [xxxii]-581 pages, part 1 only (of 2). Woodcut printer's mark on title page. Beautiful woodcut initials. The present copy is rubricated, in red and blue, by the Ghent binder and bookseller Gielis van den Walle - with his "W" mark on the front endpaper - and with partial colouring of the decorative initials in the text. Old library stamp on title page (Nijmegen).
Calf binding over wooden boards, typical Ghent blind tooled binding, possibly by Gielis Van de Walle. Blind tooling with lozenges with flowers, a shepherd leaning on his fork, small flies, in the corners the initials IR, referring to Ian Ryckaert. Spine renewed, morocco title piece, thoroughly restored. Vellum end lvs, with contemporary ink annotations.

"Voor Gent pleiten bovendien de dubbele schutbladen in stevig perkament, de kapitaal W onderaan het schutplat. 'Gentse rubricering' onderscheidt zich van de normaal-gebruikelijke, door de dunne haaltjes en de buikige vorm van het teken q dat in rood en blauw in titels, kapittelopschriften en paragrafen van de tekst opduikt, en een eigen, persoonlijk als het ware, aspect vertoont.
