Note:Scarce first edition, second issue. The first book in Dutch about ship building in practice, a very important source about building Dutch ships in the 17th c. The first four chapters discuss and illustrate ancient and foreign ships, from Noah's ark, East Asian and Chinese ships to Spanish galleys and four experimental ships (all illustrated), including a boat built in Rotterdam in 1653, nicknamed "Het Malle Schip" (The Crazy Ship), that was driven by paddle-wheels.
