Washed copy. 19th century binding in full brown morocco, all edges gilt, inner dentelle, with gilt supra libros on both covers

Work describing the wars of Charles V against the German Protestant princes in 1546 and 1547. The editio princeps in Spanish was published in Venice in 1548 The work was very popular in its time and was published in several languages. Translation by Guillaume Van Male (+1560), who was born in a noble family in Bruges and became a close adviser of Emperor Charles V. (Ref. Biographie des hommes remarquables de la Flandre occidentale)
