Note:The most important and first annotated collection of fables published in the 17th century. Nevelet collected and translated 822 fables, of which many printed here for the first time. The book is distinguished by a great number of excellent woodcuts signed with the well-known monogram of the prolific 16th century artist, VIRGIL SOLIS. These cuts appeared in a few collections of fables printed in 1566 and later before they were chosen to illustrate Nevelet's book.
