Description:8vo, [4], 450 pp. Lord Viscount Bolingbroke was a leader of the Tories. David Mallet edited and published Bolingbroke's works in 1754. "Although not a proclaimed atheist himself, Bolingbroke held certain views of opposition to church and theological teachings that may have had influence during the Age of Enlightenment." The author finishes his book with the words: "And I recommend you to the God whose being and dominion you deny, together with my most earnest prayers, that he may grant you repentance and pardon for what you have done".
